Columbus Crew Stadium: Home Of Columbus Crew
In 1999 the Columbus Crew moved from Ohio Stadium to the brand new Columbus Crew stadium located on the grounds of the Ohio Expo Center and State Fairgrounds. The Columbus Crew stadium was the first Football specific stadium in the United States and started a trend of such stadiums across the country. Now all MLS expansion franchises must have a Football specific stadium in order to be considered for admission into Major League Soccer. The stadium has also hosted home World Cup qualifiers for the United States National Team. In 1998 a stage was added to the stadium, a site which now is common at most US Football grounds, to allow the stadium to host concerts as well as football matches.
